Thoughtfully designed by the artist to raise awareness for the numerous species at risk across the world's largest freshwater archipelago; Georgian Bay. 
 
The Yellow-Banded Bumble Bee is a habitat generalist; using a variety of nectar sources and habitat types as long as flowers and nest sites are available. Nest sites are found either underground in abandoned rodent burrows or above ground in decomposing logs.

This species is at risk due to a combination of reasons including pesticide use, climate change, and habitat loss.
